Laura Mason Syndicate 2019 Report

Thursday 12 December 2019

After saddling sixty six runners in 2019 we prepare for the new season with some new horses!

It has been a very busy 2019.

We started the season with six horses (three full shares) and have followed a staggering 11 different horses over the year!

There have been some highs, such as two wins from Space War, and one win each from Luzum and Socru together with three runners on our home turf at York. We've also had five placings and numerous fourths ... just missing out on the placing prize money.

There have also been some almighty lows. Early in the year we lost yard favourite Qaffaal at home on the gallops. Syndicate stalwart Space War's injury forced him into retirement, together with Magic City who has also been retired and rehomed. On the track we've had frustrations with Socru and the stalls.

In all we've had a total of 66 runners at 19 of the 36 flat tracks using 16 different jockeys....phew!

We will be starting 2020 with the following shares in SIX horses!

The first jump horse in the syndicate, trained by Steph Easterby. The LMS have a 50% share and she is coming along nicely, the lads at home really like her and she is proving a nice jumper. The maiden race at Sheriff Hutton on Sunday the 12th January is where she will be making her racing debut.

We will continue with 50% of Tapis, who will continue to run for the Syndicate as in 2019. Trained by Jacqueline Coward, he didn't have as good a season this year but we are hoping that was down to form and not age or attitude.

Ebony Adams ran eight times for her previous trainer before joining us from Tattersalls Sales. She is an exciting one to follow and we hope she will do the same for us next year. Purchased at the Tattersalls Autumn Horses In Training Sale in October this year. She previously won at Nottingham in July and will come back into work next month in preparation for the 2020 flat season.

SOCRU (25%)

We will have a 25% share in Socru who we hope will continue to give us some good days out on the turf next year now that his attitude seems to have improved.

A new recruit yearling who will make her debut in 2020 on the flat. She is a stunning looking roan filly.

Also a new yearling who will run in 2020 on the flat and has already shown tremendous speed in his early training on the gallop. Blink and you'll miss him, this chap is like lightning!

Both of these youngsters will be for the syndicate members to name.

It has been great to see so many of you at the races and at the yard visits and we are looking forward to showing you how the Point-To-Point world works with Flight Wish...it's not as glamorous dressing in thermals and wellies BUT it is just as much fun. The drinks are cheaper for a start!

We shall be sending out the lease agreement for 2020 by the end of this week, we hope that you are all willing and able to join us again for another year of racing thrills. Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a healthy and prosperous New Year ahead.
