Training George Washington's Grandson

The first ever grandson of George Washington enters training.

George Washington was a brilliant world class racehorse. A four times Group 1 winner, he was retired to stud in 2006. However, due to fertility problems in March 2007 George Washington was replaced at stud by Holy Roman Emperor, and returned to training. Tragically he lost his life in the Breeders Cup Classic at Monmouth Park in 2007, breaking a leg.

Whilst at stud he managed to produce just one foal, Date With Destiny, who in turn, in 2016, produced her first colt foal. The colt, by Lope De Vega, is here in training at Mick Easterby Racing and preparing for the 2018 flat season. Here we join him with work rider Jess Anderson.

Jess reports that this unique colt feels superb in his work and is on his way to becoming a very nice racehorse.
