A new feed barrow is under construction by Head Lad Mark Cobb. Here we follow its construction, and Mark has something very special planned for its completion.
Always Up for a Challenge!
Mark Cobb is always up for a challenge. Besides his job as Head Lad he is capable of many of the yard's tasks!
So, in September he took on the task of building the new feed barrow.
Day One
The epic construction began on the 7th September 2016, with frames and a plastic hopper. But all was far from straightforward ...
Day One
Hammers are always a good plan if in any sort of doubt.
Day One
A close inspection of the hopper, and all is going to plan.
Day Two
The wheels are on, all systems go. A giant leap forward. All sorts of exciting plans are being made, including a name. We will put it to the masses and immortalise one of our horses by bestowing its name on this fine vehicle.
The Barrow is Finished
The new kit arrived from Ireland, all present and correct. The barrow is now complete and ready for a test run. The final stage is to bestow a name on this wonderful vehicle, to immortalise one of our stable stars.
Nameplates are go
The nameplates are ready for a naming ceremony for the new barrow. We will give it a good clean and polish for the event.
Finished!!
Fred is now complete and sporting his name!
Fred meets Fred
Fred meets the barrow named in his honour.
A special treat
Bowson Fred has a lunchtime snack delivered in the new barrow.
