A lovely gelding by Monsieur Bond, we simply knew him as ‘Ace’ during his time on the yard as he wasn’t given a racing name. Ace was chosen because when he was a foal he had a star shaped like the ace of clubs.

Ace didn’t have the speed to race under rules and was therefore offered for sale out of racing. He was bought by Gill Rhind, and Gill now takes up the story.

"Ace (now officially named Molino Royale) came to me in September 2020 as a 2 year old. I had actually gone there to view another horse but when he was brought out of his stable and one of the jockeys jumped on him bare back with only a head collar on and rode him up and down the stable block, I fell in love!"

"He is such an honest horse, so willing to please and loves a cuddle. He is very inquisitive and wants to know about everything. In the beginning, I mainly lunged him and only rode him a couple of times a week but since March 2021 he has a full set of shoes put on and has been hacking out around the surrounding countryside and down to the beach."

"We now have regular lessons and he is developing three beautiful paces. He is never spooky and is happy to take the lead or stay at the back when we all hack out in a group. We have been to other yards for lessons which he has taken in his stride with everyone falling in love with this super cool dude. We did the Raby Castle ride with a couple of friends, which was great fun but very wet."

"Unfortunately he is still too young to get involved with saddle club activities but next year we will be good to go. In the meantime we are looking forward to our first dressage test next month. Fingers crossed."
