More winning tips please, Michael
David Ashforth, the Racing Post
24 February 2001
It was refreshing to see that Mick Easterby has launched a tipping service-and a good one.
On February 15, Mick, tipping under the alias of Michael Easterby, took the trouble to put an advert in the Racing Post to tell readers that Silver Socks would win again at Wolverhampton the following Saturday. Silver Socks didn't actually run on Saturday, but, on Tuesday, he sluiced up.
It was a fine example to all trainers. I'm sure that `Michael' will be placing ads regularly with details of all the yard's best punts, and I am looking forward to Sir Michael Stoute doing the same once the turf season gets under way.
I would also like to see ads from Nicky Henderson, Barry Hills and Sir Mark Prescott.
Mick's subsidiary reason for the ad was to try to find a buyer for Silver Socks, but the little beauty is still running in Mick's own colours. But if you could steer us to a few more winners . . .
The advert read "For sale - a "ready made winner" at Wolverhampton this week-end. Contact - without delay - Michael Easterby'.
