A giant of a filly out of the Dubawi mare Whitby, she is a half sister to Whitby Bay who was placed for the yard and is now racing overseas. Bankawi won her first race on her handicap debut at Catterick in July when she carried the colours of South Bank Racing to their first ever win. Bankawi became the first winner of 2020 after the suspension of racing when she took the Kirby Wiske Handicap at Thirsk in June.
Name: The name Bankawi is derived from the 'Bank' of owners South Bank Racing and the 'awi' from Dubawi, the sire of Bankawi's dam.
