Mick's Ritual made his debut on the flat at Newcastle in 1981, finishing fourth in a 2yo novice race. In 1982 he was third on his hurdles debut before recording wins at Catterick in 1983 and 1984 over hurdles. He left the yard to go Point to Pointing with Peter Felgate.
