Carlton Frankie joined us in October 2015, as a yearling from Tattersalls Sales. She was a big bay filly by Equiano out of Valiant Runner.
Frankie grew into a strong filly and made her debut at York in Listed company in May 2016, finishing ninth. She did not run for another five months and returned to York in October where she won a very competitive maiden race. Cam Hardie rode her that day and she won from the front, bravely holding off challengers to win by a nose.
Carlton Frankie thrived over the winter and she won first time out at Redcar in 2017 ridden by Nathan Evans. She then followed up at Nottingham in May.
However, she ran a disappointing race at York in June when she finished adrift in the Catherine Kinloch Paver Memorial Macmillan Charity Handicap at York. At the end of 2017 she was given wind surgery and on her return in 2018 ran an eye-catching fourth at York where she was beaten under a length.
She opened her account for 2018 when she won at Redcar in May on her favourite fast ground, ridden by Nathan Evans. She was a winner again at Epsom in August ridden by James Sullivan where she on the China Southern Airlines Handicap.
Tragically her victory at Epsom would prove to be her final race as Carlton Frankie died in September 2018 after suffering a heart attack at the yard.
She will be greatly missed by her owners and the staff amongst whom she had become a real stable favourite. Thank you for the memories Frankie.
