Joanna Mason's first hand story of Liverpool (GER).
Liverpool was given to me after he ran a few times over hurdles and was unplaced. Grandad thought he'd be good to have a play with.
After a couple of years pointing and two winners, for which I rode him, he retired due to injury.
We decided to hunt him and I also started doing the racehorse showing classes. He just excelled, his racing record was history and he was in his element showing winning everything from Lincolnshire show and Yorkshire county show and many more qualifying for the championships at Hickstead and HOYs qualifier and was one of 12 of the top horse retained racehorses in the country to compete at HOYs.
Last year after breaking my back he was the first horse I sat on after 5 weeks and decided I wanted to do something different, that was to ride sidesaddle. He was like a duck to water and we competed at the Great Yorkshire show, placed 4th on our first outing (1 place of qualifying for HOYs).
In 2015 he also won a few prestigious awards. The Retraining Of Racehorses "Horse of the Year" award for his versatility and he received special recognition at the Godolphin awards evening.
He's still going strong and is a regular on the show circuit and his winning record has continued in 2017.
