Mel's Choice ran just six times for the stable. He won three of his six starts before leaving to be trained by his owner upon gaining a trainer's licence. His Beverley win saw him land a huge gamble as he was backed from 7/1 to 2/1 and was never in danger of being beaten at any stage of the race.
