Life After Racing: Dream Boy

He is an absolute treasure to be around, he's now known as Dream Boy as it's been a lifelong dream to own a thoroughbred.

- Dawn Beattie, owner Sneak The Peek

When it comes to finding a loving home and an adoring owner the story of Sneak The Peek is right up there at the top of the tree!

Sneak The Peek began life as a racehorse, running four times on the flat as a three-year-old. He finished third at Leicester on his second outing, but we decided that he didn't quite have the speed to win on the flat. He was retired in September 2020 and the wheels were put in motion to find him a new career out of racing.

A calm and gentle horse with a gorgeous temperament, he ticked every box required to make someone a special fun horse. A lovely lady by the name of Dawn approached us looking for an ex-racehorse out of training. She immediately fell in love with 'Sneaky' and he left the stables in October for pastures new in East Anglia.

"He is an absolute treasure to be around, he's such a loving horse," says Dawn. "He's now known as Dream Boy, as it's been a lifelong dream to own a thoroughbred."

It took Dawn a little time to find the right food for Dream Boy, but he is now looking a million dollars on pure feed and also grass in the paddock.

"I've just bought him a brand new saddle," continues Dawn. "He's done a lot of schooling, some dressage and a little bit of jumping. But it's mainly hacking, and we get so many lovely compliments about how good he looks."

Dream Boy can often be seen around the lanes and bridleways with Dawn, her grand-daughter and of course Dexter the dog who comes along too!

"Everyone loves him, especially Dexter! He's just a dream to own," says Dawn. "It doesn't seem possible, but I've had him two years the 15th of this month."

We wish Dawn and Sneak The Peak many happy years together and will catch up again soon with our old friend as he enjoys life after racing.

It's hard to imagine a closer bond than the one which has been forged between Dawn and her 'Dream Boy'.
