English Wren is one of favourite rehome tales!

A flashy chestnut daughter of Cityscape, her racing career saw her finish down the field at Catterick and Redcar in August 2023.

A filly who didn't enjoy her time on the track and lacked the speed to be a winner, she was retired from racing and as with all of our former racehorses we pledged to find her the best home that we could.

English Wren caught the eye of Vicky who came to the yard and immediately fell in love with her. Vicky knows our yard well, having also given a home to former broodmare Kalariya, and English Wren ticked the boxes. A calm and gentle filly she would make an riding horse for a family with a young daughter.

A few days later English Wren left New House Farm for the final time bound for Vicky's farm in the Peak District.

English Wren has become a firm favourite on the farm, where she's now the regular ride of Vicky's husband James. Accompanied by daughter Fleur and her pony they're a familiar sight on the local lanes and tracks.

"Wren is such a good baby sitter for my girl's little pony!" says Vicky. "They get on so well."

"She is a very happy mare. We like to think that we let horses be horses and know enough to understand them, and in return the enjoying working for us."

The foursome have become a regular sight on the local lanes.


Wren has also made a very special friend of her own. When she's not out riding she keeps company with a cob by the name of Winston. They're so close and inseparable that Vicky refers to them together as 'Wrenston'.

At just five years of age English Wren is a young horse and we wish Vicky, James and Fleur many years of happiness with her and we always look forward to receiving regular updates, photos and videos.
