Two-year-old gelding Top Lad will start his racing career at Hamilton Park on Wednesday. The son of Starman lines up for the Heineken Low & No Bar EBF Maiden Stakes and will be ridden by Billy Garritty.

Top Lad is owned by the Eastscope 45 Partnership who have also sent out juvenile winner Head For Freedom and the promising Star Noir this year.

Top Lad is out of black type mare Hen Night, who won a Listed race at Cork and was Group 3 placed at Leopardstown. A horse we like very much, he's from a fine family and is a half-brother to winners Mister Gaetano, Dagian and Luminent.

Thursday's assignment looks a tough one, with the 90-rated Boston Dan setting the standard. He was raised some 15 pounds for finishing runner up in the valuable Harry's Half Million sales race at York last month and he has considerable racecourse experience with five runs under his belt, which have yielded two seconds and two thirds.
