Billy Garritty gave the three-year-old an enterprising ride, keeping a straight course from the start and then staying wide around the bend. David Easterby and Joanna Mason had walked the course before the race and decided the ground was better out wide and it did the trick, as Draupnir came home a length and a half ahead of Me Tarzan to record his first career win.
