Cottam Rocket was a very fast roan gelding by Roan Rocket. He made his debut in 1978. He won as a three-year-old at Pontefract, Thirsk and Ayr and as a four-year-old at Newcastle. He was trained for the 1979 Gosforth Park Cup but finished second to Oh Simmie. Cottam Rocket raced 28 times and gained black type.
