Kings Square was bred by Alan Black out of his fabulous broodmare Prime Property. He was a half-brother to 12 times winner Middlethorpe. Kings Square made his debut in 2003 at Ripon, finishing last and he showed very little in his first 12 races, which included being pulled up three times. However, he made enormous improvement at Newcastle in 2004 when he won over hurdles. He won again later on at Musselburgh but then lost his form completely. He was retired after being pulled up at Perth in 2007, which was his 31st racecourse appearance.
