Sun Tonic made his debut in the Carlton Minniott Plate at Thirsk in May 1964. He won the 'Ennerdale Water Stakes' at Carlisle in 1965 and the 'Dunsdale Selling Handicap Stakes' at Redcar in 1966. He was regularly ridden by Lionel Brown. He was later sold to KV Digby to go jumping.
