Lucky Season made her debut at Newcastle in April 1981. She won the 'Buttermere 2yo Stakes' at Carlisle later that year ridden by Terry Lucas where she was 13/8 favourite. She finished runner up in her next race in a seller at Stockton and was claimed by Peter Felgate.
