Spirit Of Acklam was a winner on the first day of Ayr's Western Meeting this afternoon. Under a fabulous ride by Joanna Mason he showed true grit to take the 'Western House Hotel EBF Novice Stakes', reversing the York form with runner up Sisyphean.
Spirit Of Acklam is owned by Maxwell Morrison, better known as the owner of star mare Reach, but he now has a very nice colt to carry his black and white silks.
