Carolus Magnus was a winner in Scotland this afternoon as the eight-year-old took the Tamper-Proof Handicap at Musselburgh.

Billy Garritty was the successful rider as the veteran rolled back the years to gamely defeat Supreme Clarets by a neck. Returned at odds of 11/2 he reproduced the form that saw him end a four year losing run over course and distance last October.

Carolus Magnus joined us from Andrew Balding in October 2022 but it took him three years to get his head in front for his new yard, having previously recorded two wins at Newmarket back in 2021. However, he seems to thrive on the Scottish air and he's now won two and been placed three times from his five trips to Edinburgh, with form figures at Musselburgh reading 31221.
