We head for the seaside on Wednesday as So Grateful runs in the Gold & Silver Exchange Amateur Jockeys' Handicap at Great Yarmouth. A 200 mile journey from Sheriff Hutton, we'll be hoping to collect some prizemoney as our horse aims for his first victory of the year having last got his head in front in May 2025.

The homebred son of Swiss Spirit has shown somewhat of a revival in his last two races, finishing runner up at Beverley and Thirsk, and we hope he can add a seventh win to his tally.

So Grateful has recorded six victories from 66 starts, the 666 being quite a coincidence as the eight-year-old is known at home as Damien, after the character in horror film The Omen, due to his crescent shaped star.

Serena Brotherton knows 'Damien' well and rides him out at home, and she'll be bidding for her 38th winner for the stable in a career that goes back to 1999 when she recorded her first win for Mick Easterby on Flower O'Cannie in the Queen Mother's Cup at York.
