An early career winner, Cap Spartel won the 'Hornby Castle Apprentice Selling Handicap' at Catterick in 1963. In 1965 she won over hurdles as Doncaster for conditional jockey Pete Burnham, who worked here at the yard. Cap Spartel later left the yard to be trained by W Fisher.
