MAHSOOB

Won Wolferton Handicap (Listed) at 4 years and Earl Of Sefton (Group 3) at 5 years.

Mahsoob (foaled 2011, died 2024) was a bay stallion of scope and balance, by Dansili out of Handmaiden, typical of Shadwell's well‑made middle‑distance horses. He showed a clean head, a well‑set neck, depth through the body and a strong, correctly muscled hindquarter that contributed to his fluent, efficient action. His temperament was straightforward and professional, and he carried himself with the composure typical of his sire line.

Trained by John Gosden for Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum, he built a consistent race record of 7 starts, 5 wins, progressing smoothly through the ranks and displaying a clear turn of foot over distances from a mile to ten furlongs. His principal victories included the Listed Magnolia Stakes at Kempton and the Wolferton Handicap at Royal Ascot, where he travelled strongly and quickened decisively to beat a competitive field. He retired sound and entered stud where he covered a modest book of mares. His early progeny showed the same scope, bone and fluent movement that characterised him as a racehorse, along with a willing, uncomplicated attitude. His stud career was brief due to his death, but he left a small number of offspring noted for their athletic frames and genuine temperaments.

Mahsoob was the sire of two individuals runner son the flat including three-time winner Premiership ((GB) 2019g) and also seven individual runners over jumps.
