Big Apple Jack recorded his first career victory this afternoon as he got off the mark at the seventeenth attempt in the Hampton By Hilton Hotel Handicap at Hamilton Park.

A first time set of blinkers did the trick as the four-year-old son of Mayson defeated Lumenbourg by a length in South Lanarkshire.

Billy Garritty was the winning rider as Big Apple Jack rewarded the patience of owner Mark Hickling, proving his ability by going one better than when runner up at Carlisle last month.

Big Apple Jack was led up by Sher Singh, who also rides him out at home. Sher should receive a lot of the credit for getting Jack into peak condition to land today's win.
