Fontainebleau, November 2016

In November 2016 Perfect Pasture and First Wheat headed to France to run at Fontainebleau, with Shane, Katie and Nathan.

Leaving on Tuesday 15th November, and via an overnight stop at Lingfield, the team sailed on Wednesday morning from Dover and headed for Fontainebleau.

Here we present a short photo diary of the trip to France.

Baby Fame back home

First Wheat this morning, safe and sound in his box. Looking great after a 1000 mile trip, two ferry crossings and a nine furlong race!

Perfect Pasture back home

Perfect Pasture this morning, safe and sound in his box as if nothing had happened. A testimony to our brilliant staff and the care they have given the horses on their 1000 mile trip.

Katie and Shane take a well earned break!

Time for the staff to eat! First Wheat and Perfect Pasture have been munching hay on their travels, but the staff have to wait until there's a break in proceedings! Here Katie and Shane finally get their chance.

Heading back to TeamEasterby HQ @ Sheriff Hutton

First Wheat finished sixth in his race, beaten by three lengths. He is now in the horsebox heading home to Sheriff Hutton. The rest of the party travelling by train are not having quite such a smooth ride as the train is delayed. See who gets home first! What a day, two runners in France and two winners in England!

Fontainebleau: The action has begun

Who needs a flat cap when I've got one of these?

We hear that the arrival of Team Easterby has caused the price of berets to increase in Fontainebleau such is the demand.

You might have seen the last of me flat cap now I've got one of these.

We're here!!

Here we are in Fontainebleau! Baby Fame and Pasture have taken the journey well and seem happy to be in France.

The weather isn't great but that won't matter, as we all know Perfect Pasture's preferences!

Just 4 kilometres to go now, as we approach Fontainebleau!

On the Ferry to France

Katie, Shane and Nathan are on the ferry to France with Perfect Pasture and First Wheat safely boarded. Pasture is an old hand at this, having travelled to Ireland (and won) earlier in the year!
